2’s Class Curriculum:

Beyond Cribs and Rattles (2nd Edition)

Key elements in helping 2-year-olds learn are: Learning through Play (sensorimotor, construction, and dramatic play), and Scaffolding (which means teaching them new skills based on things they already know.) This curriculum supports the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.

A Day In The Life

Of a 2 Year Old

Arrival / Pickup

During COVID-19 we are doing outdoor check-in and temperature checks upon arrival.

Free Play

Children are given time to free play in the centers located around the classroom: blocks, dramatic play, books, and more! They learn to play with friends but also follow instructions.

Snacks and Meals

Morning and afternoon snack are provided by the school. Lunch is provided by the family. Students say a prayer before meals, practice hand washing, and use basic table manners.

Circle Time

Songs, stories, lessons, and activities as a class!

Rest Time

Students rest on cots (cots and sheets provided and sanitized by the school, blanket provided by the family) for 90-120 minutes in the afternoon.

Outdoor Play

The class goes outside twice per day, weather permitting, on our beautiful playground! We provide balls, chalk, bubbles, and more.

Chapel

Each class attends a weekly Chapel time with Ms. Carey for songs and Bible stories!

Diaper / Potty

Ms. Telina works with each child and family on their readiness for toilet training. 2’s get frequent diaper checks and/or trips to the potty!

Arts and Crafts

2-year-olds love to paint, color, and stamp! Your child will do several seasonal creative projects per week.
